| 1. |
Flush the line thoroughly after plumbing changes to eliminate
the possibility of foreign materials reaching the meter. |
| 2. |
Operating pressure is 35 to 150 psi. |
| 3. |
Install meter horizontally with the register facing up
and the inlet port facing the supply water line. |
| 4. |
It
is recommended that if there is any possibility that
the water supply contains foreign materials, a Carlon strainer should be installed between the supply and the
meter. |
| 5. |
It is not recommended that the meter be run for long
periods of time at the maximum rating as excess wear
will result and the life of the meter will be greatly reduced. |
| 6. |
To
reduce potential harmful effects to equipment from water
hammers caused by quick closing
valves, it is suggested that you purchase and install
a Carlon slow-closing solenoid valve. |
| 7. |
Protect the
meter from freezing and from heat in excess of 105°F. |
| 8. |
Protect meter from any backflow of water opposite of indicated flow direction. |
| 9. |
For outdoor installation, protect the meter and remote counter from direct exposure to the elements.
|
| |
Straight, unobstructed pipe section upstream of meter as follows :
| a. |
One Bend = 10 X Diameter of pipe |
| b. |
Valves
(check, gate, etc.) = 12 X Diameter of pipe |
| c. |
Two bends or one tee and one bend or bends at random
= 25 X Diameter of pipe |
|

Straight, unobstructed pipe section downstream of meter as follows:

NOTE: The "JLR" Remote
style meter is not recommended for installation in meter
pits or outdoors. |
| |
|
JLR - OVR Wiring Instructions |
| 1. |
Install the meter in line as prescribed by local code.
Note: The JL OVR meter should be installed in a
location protected from harmful elements, ie water, snow,
direct sunlight, dirt and dust. Carlon does not
recommend that this model be installed in pits. |
| 2. |
Remove cover from remote counter. |
| 3. |
Cut vinyl jacket away from wire approx. 1" from
end and strip each lead to expose 1/2" of wire and
crimp
stakon. |
| 4. |
Loosen terminal screws on base and insert under terminal
screws and tighten (It is not necessary to
observe any polarity or color coding. Cover Terminals with silicone sealant to protect from moisture.) |
| 5. |
Mount base of remote counter to wall (Note reading on
counter). Remote counter may be installed up to 1000' from meter. |
| 6. |
Pick up leads at meter. Touch each lead to a terminal
of a 9-volt battery for not more than one second
this will advance the remote counter one count. Repeat
if desired. Then check remote counter to be sure
circuit is complete. If remote counter has not advanced,
check cable and terminal screws. Screws should
be tight and cable should not have any staples through
it. (Please note: remote counter cannot be reset
to zero.) |
| 7. |
At the meter, remove terminal cover. This exposes the
terminals. |
| 8. |
Cut vinyl jacket approximately 1" from end of wire
and strip each to expose 1/2" of wire and crimp on
stakon. Insert stakon under terminal screws and tighten.
(It is not necessary to observe any polarity or
color coding.) |
| 9. |
Install remote counter cover with seal pin. |
| 10. |
Replace cover with vinyl cable extending through slot
at bottom and seal. |
